A Ministry of Hope and Discipleship in Africa
Across Africa, many Christians who experience same-sex attraction long to follow Jesus faithfully but often struggle to find pastoral care, discipleship, and community within the Church.
FOUND exists to meet that need.
Founded by Pastor Steve Mwendia, Found seeks to support sexual and gender minorities who desire to follow Christ while upholding the historic Christian teaching on marriage and sexuality. Through teaching, community, and pastoral care, FOUND is helping believers discover that faithfulness to Jesus and honest conversations about sexuality can exist together.

The Story Behind FOUND
Steve Mwendia grew up in Kenya, where his faith was deeply shaped by the church. As a teenager, he began experiencing same-sex attraction and wrestled with what that meant for his life, his faith, and his calling.
For years, he lacked the language, resources, and community to understand how faith and sexuality could exist together within a life of Christian discipleship.
That began to change in 2018, when Steve encountered Christian writing that spoke directly to these questions. For the first time, he saw a vision for a future where someone could acknowledge same-sex attraction while still pursuing a life of faithfulness to Jesus.
In 2019, he began sharing his story publicly through a blog and the response was immediate. Messages began arriving from people across Africa who had never heard their experience reflected in Christian conversation before—people searching for hope and community.
FOUND was born out of that moment. Out of a simple but powerful conviction: You are not alone.
The Mission of Found
FOUND walks alongside Christians as they navigate questions of faith, sexuality, and discipleship within the historic Christian sexual ethic.
Through teaching, writing, and community-building, the ministry seeks to:
Encourage believers who feel isolated.
Offer biblical teaching and pastoral guidance.
Support Christians seeking to live faithfully in challenging contexts.
Create spaces for discipleship, prayer, and honest conversation.
Already, people across Africa are finding connection, language, and hope through FOUND’s work.
A Vision for the Future
As FOUND continues to grow, Steve dreams of expanding the ministry’s reach across Africa.
One long-term vision includes developing a Faith and Sexuality Center–a hub for discipleship, pastoral care, mental wellness support, and theological reflection. This kind of space would help equip pastors, church leaders, and believers to engage these conversations with wisdom, compassion, and faithfulness.
While this vision will take time, the work is already underway–through teaching, writing, and growing networks of support for those seeking to follow Christ faithfully.
